The Process of Making a Waldorf Doll...

 

Select some fabric.  In this case I have used a piece of felt that I have made.

Cut out the body shape and sew it together.

Pure wool stuffing, tubular bandage and twine are needed to make the head.

Sew one end of the tubular bandage and turn it out, then stuff the bandage to the desired head size and tie it off at the other end.

Tie off another section to determine the neck and shape of the head.

Using more twine, shape the eye line and the back of the skull.  See the picture below for a side on view.

Select some skin coloured tricot fabric to cover the head and form the hands.

Attach the hands then stuff the body and attach the head.

Add a cute little hat.

Tuck in a little fringe and sew it in.

Embroider the face and you have a completed doll.

THE DODGIEST WRIST WARMERS IN THE WORLD!!!! 

I had some left over Noro yarn from a poncho I made for my niece, so I thought I would have a go at making some wrist warmers.  I should have made them in a circular/tube style rather than a rectangle and joining it at the sides.  Not only that, they turned out too loose for my wrists. Back to the drawing board.....

CLEANING CLOTHS FOR TEENY TINY HANDS

I have been busy dyeing doilies again this weekend.  The colours are much lovelier in real life.

I also dyed some muslin play cloths for the the children I work with.

On the crochet front I am making some cleaning cloths out of cotton yarn, the group of children I have absolutely love to help with the cleaning so I thought I would make some to suit the size of their hands.

CHILDREN'S LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

One of the lovely things about my job is that I get to include my crafty obsession into my work.

The following are some photos of a learning environment that I have been working on lately.  You can definitely see that I have a current obsession with dying doilies.  Unfortunately the photos are quite dark, I took them on my iphone.  I am finding it difficult to take the time to take pics on my camera and then load them on to the PC, blah blah blah.  Using my phone makes it much quicker because I can load them straight to the blogger app.

I would also like to mention that I am very excited to have my very first 2 followers.  Thank you so much for thinking that my blog is worth taking a look at.

 

COMPLETED GARLAND AND A LOVELY GIFT

Here is the completed garland for my niece that I posted about previously.  I am really happy with the end result, it turned out exactly as I pictured it in my mind.

Please excuse the bad photos, not a great day for taking pics but I am giving it to Miss 'M' tonight so I didn't have much choice about waiting for a nicer day.

This lovely vase and bowl was given to me by a girl I work with, she purchased them for me while visiting her family in Turkey.  The colours are really vibrant and this photo does not do them justice. I was thrilled to receive them.

AN EXPERIMENT...........

Yay! it worked.  I wanted to make some bunting with my stash of doilies. But I wanted a crocheted edge rather than a sewn one.  Next time I think I will machine hem the raw edge of the doilies rather than crocheting straight on to the raw edge.  This would just give a neater finish but other than that I am happy with the result.

A GARLAND FOR 'MISS M'

This weekend I have been making a few bits and pieces to put together a garland for my 2 (almost 3) year old niece.  I promised her a surprise due to a recent achievement.

Some little felted balls.

Crochet flowers from Emma Lamb's how to in Issue 24 of Mollie Makes.

And the little needle felted hearts I have been working on.
