SWEET CROCHETED HAIR TIES!

My son turns 8 this Saturday and we are having a small party with his cousins.  I am having a play with making some handmade prizes for the party games and this is what I have come up with so far for the girls.  I am really happy with the result.

AN EXCITING THRIFTY FIND...........

The op-shop gods have been very good to me lately, but even I couldn't believe my eyes when they set upon these the other day.  They almost took my breath away.  I have never found a complete set before and not only that, they only cost $9.95 AUD.  Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I got home I immediately looked up the pattern, it is called blue horizon.  Then I looked up a set on ebay and they were asking for $60.  Lucky, lucky, lucky me.  I will post more pics of my other recent finds soon.

CROCHET FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been having fun over the last few days just doing some bits and pieces.

These are some flowers I have had made up for quite a while and I have made a couple of garlands with them and some little felted balls in similar colour tones.  Some of the flowers are from Lucy's blog and others are from one of the Mollie Makes issues.

My niece received a much wanted new doll for her 3rd birthday so I thought I would begin to make a sweet little blanket for it.

Making A Waldorf Doll

The Process of Making a Waldorf Doll...

 

Select some fabric.  In this case I have used a piece of felt that I have made.

Cut out the body shape and sew it together.

Pure wool stuffing, tubular bandage and twine are needed to make the head.

Sew one end of the tubular bandage and turn it out, then stuff the bandage to the desired head size and tie it off at the other end.

Tie off another section to determine the neck and shape of the head.

Using more twine, shape the eye line and the back of the skull.  See the picture below for a side on view.

Select some skin coloured tricot fabric to cover the head and form the hands.

Attach the hands then stuff the body and attach the head.

Add a cute little hat.

Tuck in a little fringe and sew it in.

Embroider the face and you have a completed doll.
